The "Starmetis" Festival is a short film script competition announced by the "Alfa" trade park, which began in 2013. This festival was created as a short-term initiative including various activities and film presentations. All submitted works were evaluated by a professional panel of judges consisting of three people: Dita Rietuma, Roberts Vinovskis and Jānis Nords. The panel of judges evaluated submitted works on their conformity with the topic, script originality and the possibilities of implementing the ideas.

The main objective of this festival is to discover and support new talent in the film production industry, as well as to promote the development of Latvian cinema. The task of the Jazz Communications team was to build communication with the media, attract cooperation partners and ensure the coordination of the parties involved, as well as to organise the festival’s closing event.

During the festival, we ensured media relations, communication between the parties involved – the Client, the panel of judges and participants in the festival. We successfully organised the festival’s closing event, which gathered more than one hundred spectators, who could enjoy premieres of short films, vote for their favourite participant and enjoy different types of entertainment, such as performances by improvisational theatres.

In total, almost one hundred applications were submitted, and three of them in each year –2013 and 2014 – received co-financing from the "Alfa" trade park to shoot a film. The short film which received the best evaluation from the panel of judges received the "Grand Prix" award.
